The whisky was initially matured in rye casks, followed by finishing in maple syrup and Amontillado casks, with a small amburana component completing the composition. Bottled at 50% ABV, the release is limited to 1,500 and its name comes from the Norns, three beings associated with fate and the course of human lives in Norse mythology: Urðr, Verðandi and Skuld, linked here with past, present and future. They also inspire Gealdýr’s accompanying four-track EP, comprising Urðr, Verðandi, Skuld and Nornir, scheduled for release on major streaming platforms alongside the whisky on 21 October 2026.
Nose
Maple syrup and vanilla, followed by rye spice, toasted oak, dried fruit and roasted nuts. Winter spices and a delicate fragrant wood note develop underneath.
Palate
Caramel, vanilla and toasted oak lead into rye spice. Amontillado brings dry nuttiness and dried fruit, balanced by a softer woody sweetness.
Finish
Rye spice, toasted oak, dark caramel, walnut and vanilla linger alongside a lasting maple sweetness.
